"I already have a Label" Most of our artists do. We can serve as a label for artists that need one. But we encourage artists to establish their own Indie Label. We work with Indie labels to supplement marketing, promotion, art, and design services. Even small traditional labels hire ad agencies and promotion specialists. That's where we com in. We are hired guns. Need press coverage, social networking fans, CD distribution online, name recognition... we do it for a reasonable fee. "My Label won't let me work with you." Some don't. We don't require exclusive contracts. We believe it's your career and you should have the right to hire the best talent you can find to promote your releases and career. "I don't have an album yet." Ok, no album is something to work on. On the other hand. A digital recorder, computer, and printer are all you need to produce 10 singles for each show. CD album options are flexible. The value of a CD (single or multi-track album) goes beyond the sales. Any release is a PR opportunity, booking tool and fan generator. It can also make you some money. "Nobody does Singles anymore" They should. Even a CD single has marketing value for you. CD singles may only sell for $2.50-$3.00 tops but they get your name out. Your fans love your music. They want to share it, show a friend a photo of you and have a copy of that song they "love". They want to play it in their car with their friends. They want to share their "discovery". It starts a career-long relationship NOW, not a year or two from now. Sell singles for $3.00 and 10-tracks are worth $30 at a time in your career when you really need it. Singles have an added value. They give you a booking tool, radio submission and a release that serves as a focal point for reviews, press releases and editorial coverage. It also marks the start of your career or a period in your career. There will come a day when your singles are collectors items. 30 years from now what will an autographed copy of this single be worth? What would an early Bob Dylan single be worth today. Never under estimate. You have to use what you have. This business requires that you build the business side of your career at the same time you build your catalog so you have fans to sell future releases to. "Why release albums if singles are better pound for pound." Just remember that the real reason for albums was to justify the $20 retail price point for the record labels. Artists were forced to generate 10-tracks to "fill" an album and fans were forced to buy the 10-tracks to get the 2-3 they really wanted. 2-4 track packs. More frequent releases are what built the business. Albums made the labels rich. Once the artists take back ownership, the old ways and standards need to be re-examined. Don't buy the dogma. Think it out. What's your sample rate... 128? Go higher on your singles to make them a premium product. Use the packaging to advertise your web site, booking contacts, etc... leverage everything. ![]() We work for our Artist's... Our Artists don't work for us. |
